Hunt of the Week brings you the very best finds from eBay and discusses their significance to automotive excessery

Today we’re showcasing a Valentine V1 radar detector. This isn’t your typical run of the mill used V1 (sans power cord even!). No, this one has a personally inscribed message from Mr. 31:04 himself:

“THE POLIZEI BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION WISHES YOU THE BEST OF LUCK!

KISSES FROM MUNCHEN!

ALEX 144″

The auction began at $199, current bid is up to $201.50. Not bad considering V1’s sell for $399.00 brand new. Bidding closes tomorrow, Tuesday 9/17 at about 7:50 a.m. est. Let’s hope whomever wins this actually understands that it has some intrinsic value. Or, if you’re interested in breaking that record, shoot me a message and let’s beat that M5 using this radar detector. I’m down. It would be ironic. And funny. Perfect for the internet. We might even make the front page of Reddit?

Alex Roy Signed V1

Alex has made interesting automotive enthusiast headlines for years. He once held the fastest lap around Manhattan, was a repeat entry in the Gumball 3000 and Bullruns of the early 2000’s, holds the U.S. Transcontinental record from New York to L.A. in 31:04, all among other hilariously dangerous exploits. If any of this sounds remotely interesting to you, buy his book.
